The Glacier Peak Wilderness is a rugged and remote area in the North Cascades known for its towering peaks, old-growth forests, and pristine alpine lakes.
As the namesake of the wilderness area, Glacier Peak is a popular destination for hikers and climbers. Standing at 10,541 feet, it is the most prominent peak in the surrounding area. The climb to the summit offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Spider Gap is a high mountain pass located within the wilderness area. It offers breathtaking views of Dome Peak and the surrounding glaciers. The hike to Spider Gap is a favorite among backpackers for its challenging terrain and stunning scenery.
Image Lake is a picturesque alpine lake located in a basin surrounded by rugged peaks. The lake is known for its crystal clear waters and stunning reflections of the surrounding mountains. It is a popular spot for camping and photography.
The Suiattle River runs through the Glacier Peak Wilderness, offering opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. The river is home to a variety of fish species, including salmon and trout. Hiking along the river provides a peaceful and scenic experience.
The Pacific Crest Trail passes through the Glacier Peak Wilderness, offering hikers the opportunity to experience a portion of this iconic long-distance trail. The trail provides access to many of the wilderness area's most popular attractions, including Glacier Peak and Spider Gap.
