Blue Lake is stocked with fingerling rainbow trout carried up the trail by horseback. The fingerlings reach a good size with fish up to 15-inches not uncommon. All methods of fishing work well at this lake, but fish seem to key in on the color orange. Access to the Blue Lake trailheads in the Gearhart Mt. Wilderness is dependent on the snow year. Access is normally available in late June. A 3 mile moderate hike is required from the closest road location.
