This Fried Goat Cheese is Fantastic!

8/24/2023
I didn't used to be a big fan of Goat Cheese, but we had some leftover goat cheese that we had for a pizza recipe that was going to go bad, so I decided to try my hand at frying it up. Here is how it tasted:

FANTASTIC!

It was so good I want to make it again tonight. If I only had more goat cheese.

Ingredients

Goat Cheese, 4 oz
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 egg
1/3 cup bread crumbs (italian is better, plain is fine)

Instructions

1. Beat the egg with a fork and place in a shallow bowl.
2. Mix the flour, salt, and pepper and place in a shallow bowl. The salt and pepper quantity is approximate - adjust to your specific tastes. Some people will add italian seasonings here, especially if you are using plain bread crumbs.
3. Pour the bread crumbs in a shallow bowl. If you are using plain bread crumbs, you can add italian seasonings here if you want to add some taste and color. Some suggestions would be basil, oregano, parsley, or other flavors you want to add to the sharpness of the goat cheese.
4. I do not mix the goat cheese with anything, but some people will mix it with a little honey to give it some sweetness. I prefer to add honey as a drizzle on top if I want to add that sweetness to this dish.
5. I like to ball up the goat cheese into 20 gram (0.67 oz) sections, which is six per the 4-oz pack. Then flatten the ball with your hand and place on a plate. You can make smaller bites, or larger patties - it is just up to you. Here I made size balls.

Coat The Goat Cheese with the Three Dishes

6. Coat each side in the flour, salt and pepper mixture.
7. Coat both sides in the egg mixture. Make sure there is egg on all parts of the patty.
8. Now dump the egg-coatted patty in the bread crumbs and press down to have them well coated. Set them aside on a plate.

Fry-Em Up!

9. I like to use Tallow for frying like this, but any high-smoke oil will work such as Avocado Oil. Fry them until each side is golden brown, about 90 seconds per side. Don't overwhelm the hot oil with too many at one time - try two or three at a time.

You are Finished - Enjoy!

Enjoy them on a Salad

I enjoyed one with my simple Oil and Vinegar, Feta cheese salad.

Enjoy with your Meal

Here I added a fried goat cheese medallion with my main course of salmon, with sides of cauliflower rice, broccoli, and another medalion with my salad.

Goat Cheese from Trader Joes

For this receipe, I used Goat Cheese from Trader Joes.

Bread Crumbs are Not Expensive

Here are some from Walmart. If you buy Great Value, they are even less expensive.
